Automated Fork Lifts or forked automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are an extremely popular class of automated guided vehicle (AGV) because of their versatility and flexibility and its unmanned automation make it a unique an duseful material handling lift for specific industrial use. They can handle many types of loads including pallets, racks, trays, rolls, and carts and can interface with many types of equipment including conveyors, racking, and stands in addition to floor pickups and "drops".
Because of these automated fork lifts or forked automated guided vehicles which can handle so many different loads and can interface with varied types of plant equipment, these AGVs are an excellent solution for applications where changes to the facility are expected during the life of the AGV system. These AGVs can easily be reconfigured to handle new and/or additional tasks.
Load movement on forked AGVs or automated fork lift is available with either hydraulic or electric actuators to maximize speed and accuracy. Load movements include raise, lower, reach, tilt, and fork width adjustment. The fork lift type of SGV can also be equipped with fork tip sensors to confirm fork pocket openings, and fork tip bumpers to prevent improper pickup of damaged pallets. FMC Technologies is the leading supplier ofautomated fork lifts, forked AGVs and offers a variety of forked AGV types . These different fork lifts or forked AGV types include the outrigger or straddle forked AGV, the reach forked AGV, the pantograph forked AGV, the side reach forked AGV, the counterbalance forked AGV, the compact forked AGV, the forkover AGV, the narrow aisle forked AGV, the telefork AGV, and the HyBot or Walkie AGV. These are some of the standard fork lift AGV platforms which can easily be customized for special load sizes and dimensions or other special handling requirements.
